Should I workout today or not?


I have a confession to make… I don’t always want to workout.

It’s true. Some days I wake up at 6am (I workout in the mornings at Blitz Conditioning) and I would so much rather hit the snooze button and get that extra hour of sleep. Don’t you?

Well, for the past 2 weeks I’ve done just that.

The last time I worked out was December 23, 2011. That means I haven’t lifted a weight, done an ab crunch, a workout circuit or listend to Chris tell me to do 20 more seconds of the newest exercise we’ve come up with (which we are always coming up with great new exercises) in the past 2 weeks.

What I’ve noticed from my lack of working out is that I’m tired, a little more irritable and I feel drained for most of my day. It’s not just me either, many people around me have noticed that I seem way more tired these last couple weeks and it wasn’t until this morning when I put on my gym clothes, turned on the house music at the studio and really started getting into my workout that I realized…

Working out isn’t just something I do because I enjoy it, it makes me a better person. 

My routine of spending one hour a day focused on creating a better, more energetic, more awake/alert me has helped me live a life I’ve always wanted to live. A life where I know that getting out of bed in the morning, starting my day at Blitz Conditioning for 7am and then continuing to take my energy and apply it to everything I do during the day, is a life that so few get to enjoy.

Spending an hour a day on me and my physical/mental state is no longer something I’m willing to pass up by hitting the snooze button. It’s worth more than an extra hour of restless sleep.

So, when tomorrow’s alarm clock bings or chimes, try getting out of bed and starting your day with an hour dedicated to you and your physical/mental health. It could be a workout at the gym, a walk around the block or an hour of quite time with a good book and a cup of coffee. Whatever it is, invest it in yourself and everyone else around you will love you for it 😉
