Motivation through Music

It doesn’t happen that often, but sometimes I’ll notice someone working out without headphones. It leaves me to wonder if they just forgot them, or if they actually workout without any music. Either way, I’m impressed by anyone who can get in a quality workout with musical inspiration.

If I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll throw my iPod on “shuffle” and see what happens, but I usually try and find time to create the perfect arrangement of tunes to get me fired up. The selection changes on a regular basis, (especially with the continuous assortment of new artists and released singles), and I tend to switch the songs or playlists depending on my workout of the day.

When it comes down to it, there’s nothing like a great ‘pump up’ playlist to get you moving! Try incorporating old favourites and popular chart toppers, and always throw in a little something to surprise you. Here are some of my current favourites:

My workouts are usually sub-par when I have to workout without music. Listening to upbeat anthems keeps me going, and with so many musics selections readily available to us, it’s easy to to find new, refreshing motivation!

If you’re one of those people who can workout without headphones plugged in, or you listen to the rapid pulse of your racing heartbeat – kudos to you!

  1. 95% of the time I don’t workout with music in the gym, but I do like to when I’m running/doing stairs. One of my favorite songs to use is Heaven by Angels & Airwaves because it has a great buildup. I just crank it up and go.
