Meet Vicki de Haan, Chief Motivator of the Blitz Mexico Trip

As you may know, a few Blitz community members and their nearest and dearest are taking a trek down to Tijuana, Mexico to build a house for a deserving family.

This intrepid crew of Edmontonians are leaving on a jet plane to not just build a house, but to build a place where others can impact their community.Each week, from now until they take off, you will meet a couple of members on the build team.

This week, meet Vicki de Haan, Chief Motivator for the Tijuana house project.

What’s your name? What do you do for profit?
My name is Vicki de Haan and I’m the Assistant Principal at Edmonton Christian NE School.

What inspired you to Blitz Tijuana?
I have been on a similar trip to Tiajuana, and loved the experience. I hope that giving a week of my summer vacation, with some wonderful friends, will make a difference in the lives of others.

What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to a break from my day-to-day routine.

What role on the construction crew do you want the most/want the least?
On the construction crew I want the job of ‘water woman’ and ‘stucco sister’ but am not looking forward to the ‘concrete crew’!

What do you want to takeaway from this experience?
I’m looking forward to getting dirty and having fun.

Do you have anything to say to the people at home?
Thank you to everyone who is supporting us at home! For all of you that have said that you will come with us next year – I’ve taken your name and holding you to it!
