Meet Topher MacDonald – Head of Good Times and Fun for the Blitz Mexico Trip

Topher MacDonald
As you may know, a few Blitz community members and their nearest and dearest are taking a trek down to Tijuana, Mexico to build a house for a deserving family.
This intrepid crew of Edmontonians are leaving on a jet plane to not just build a house, but to build a place where others can impact their community. Each week, from now until they take off, you will meet a couple of members on the build team.
This week, meet Topher MacDonald, Head of Good Times and Fun for the Tijuana house project.
What’s your name? What do you do for profit?
Hello! Name is Topher McDonald and I work for the Edmonton Police Service and Blitz Conditioning.
What inspired you to Blitz Tijuana?
I’m inspired by the opportunity to step up, help a family in need and put others ahead of myself while experience something amazing.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am looking to building something with my bare, itty bitty, hands that will benefit a family. As well, I can’t wait to experience a different culture with the other amaze-balls people who are coming on the trip. What role on the construction crew do you want the most?
Hmmm. Is the role of sun tanning supervisor taken? In that case  I think that mixing cement, building walls and hammering nails are tasks that I am looking forward to the most because I’ve never done any of them. I am willing to everything to add to add points to my man card. When it’s all said and done, I just want to be able to say that I was part of building something.

What role on the construction crew do you want the least?
This is a difficult question because I really just want to try to help with everything. I remember someone mentioning that something happened with tar and feathers and if that’s the case, you can count me out! *laugh*.  Well that, and cleaning the outhouses.

What do you want to takeaway from this experience?
I want to leave Tijuana with sense of pride and know that the work we did will make a difference. It will be encouraging to see that there are people out there who want to do more than look after themselves.

Do you have anything to say to the people at home?
To the people at home, you have to come and do this! This is more than just a trip. It’s a life experience that is worth all the blood, sweat and tears we will put in. We are going to miss you, but we will have a tonne of stories to tell when we get back.

P.S.  To Brett, Chris and Sid are still kicking our butts off with a pre-build HIIT every a.m. so we are still getting a good sweat on. Don’t worry!
