The first month of my challenge went really well. I worked out consistently with Chris, and journalled my food intake almost every day in order to tweak things here and there with Kelsey. As a result, I gained weight and increased my muscle mass, and very happily increased my day-to-day energy.

Then, two new project launches (joint ventures between Revive Wellness and Blitz Conditioning) had me working overtime and I was sick for one week. There were a couple weeks where I only made it to Blitz once, became inconsistent with journaling my food as well as failed to prepare some meals. ie.. Life got in the way.

But that’s just it, life shouldn’t get in the way of health and vitality. I want my life to include fitness and good food and I want to live with energy and health.

Amy’s blog post on Tuesday really hit home for me… so I’m taking her advice:

…the next time you are having a moment where you feel like you have bitten off more than you can chew and you have no idea how you are going to get through it all. Let yourself have it- and then- RESET. Take a step back and take it one thing at a time, trust yourself and get it done, at the end there is a finish line and you will cross it.

With that said, I’m taking a reset, and upping my game and would love for you to join me. For the next month, my goal is to fit in fitness every day (not all being workouts at the gym, of course!) A friend of mine mentioned the idea of play and I really liked the sounds of that. If it helps for you to think of fitness as play, you may find it easier to stay active (bike ride or rollerblading anyone?) We will also engage in traditional workouts, as these have been key for increasing my muscle and tone,  but as I mentioned in this post it’s not your typical weight-lifting routine, rather functional fitness that will help you in your everyday movements. Just as key is focusing on balanced eating. Having become more in tune with my body over the last two months, I am very aware of the immediate effects that arise when I haven’t a) eaten enough b) missed a meal or snack or c) not balanced all components (carbs, protein fat etc.)

One of the project launches from Revive and Blitz is very timely as it will be an online fitness and nutrition program for those will limited funds (time and money) to see a personal trainer and Dietitian, as well as those not living in Edmonton. It will include coaching and inspiration as well as support for those trying to live a healthier life.
