Hurting with a sense of pride!

Carlos Cuevas Week 2 aI can’t believe two weeks have gone by since I decided to join the Blitz 90 Day Challenge!  There is one thing that I’ve noticed happening over these last few weeks: I moved from feeling uneasy about talking about my fitness to a sense of pride.

At first, when I was asked “why are you walking funny?” it felt awkward to say that I was working out and, on top of that, I was getting personal training. It felt like my pride was compromised in asking for help from professionals for something I thought I should be able to do on my own.  After my second week and I was asked again “why are you walking funny?” And I responded “I’ve been going to the gym”… But it wasn’t a regular response, I replied standing tall, I felt a sense of pride for what I had accomplished!

Carlos Cuevas Week 2It took me a week to realize that it’s never too late to ask for help, and to stand tall and be proud when you make decisions that will be life changing.  Leigh and I worked on strengthening my back this past week. I worked out as usual, always giving it my all but I’m not the one to make loud noises while working out, nor do I throw down weights after doing a rep. I giggle while working out and especially when I feel the ‘burn’ in the muscles. I’ll crack a joke or two between reps and I’ve learned that hardcore doesn’t mean I lose my sense of humour. By the end of the week my arms were hurting, but I know it’s not from inactivity and staying at home or playing video games; this time I know that I’m aching because I’m going to the gym. I’m hurting with a sense of pride!
