I have to be honest about something: I didn’t workout AT ALL for the last two weeks of January.
It’s actually not that big of a secret. If you take a look at the January 30 Day Challenge board, you’ll see that I kicked ass for the first two weeks. Four workouts per week? No problem. Owning it. Let’s do this.
And then, mid-January, a bunch of crazy things happened in my personal life. And those things hit me hard. I could barely keep up with work, school, and personal stuff, let alone early morning HIIT classes.
At first, I was really hard on myself about it. On January 1, I told myself that this would be the Year of No Excuses, and there I was, 15 days later, sitting on my butt instead of squatting it out.
But after a bit of self-reflection and some time to breathe, I’ve realized that life comes in ebbs and flows. Everyday I wake up and try to be the best version of myself. Some days, that means a green smoothie for breakfast, yoga, HIIT, and taking my vitamins. Other days, it’s just getting out of bed on time for work.
I’m happy to say that I’m back in the swing of things now, but I still need a little motivation sometimes. That brings me to the heart of this post:
Britt’s Most Amazing Motivational Workout Playlist
I like to think that I have excellent taste in music. (Don’t we all?) My specialty is upbeat pop, more specifically from the 1990s. (Seriously, if you need me on your Name That Tune team, I’m an expert.) If that’s the kind of music you’re into too, you’ll love this playlist. If not…give it a chance anyway. So without further ado, here are my top 20 27 fitness tunes:
The Wreckoning – Boomkat
No Church in the Wild – Jay-Z and Kanye West
4×4 – Miley Cyrus feat. Nelly
99 Problems – Jay-Z (Samantha Ronson Remix)
Watch Me Move – Fefe Dobson
Potential Breakup Song – Aly & AJ
Frustrated, Unnoticed – Damone
Sunrise – Childish Gambino
Work B*tch – Britney Spears
Whatever – My Name Is Kay
Daft Punk is Playing At My House – LCD Soundsystem
Shake It Out – Florence & The Machine
Let’s Get Naughty – Jessie & The Toy Boys

Hardcore Girls – Rye Rye

If I knew I could keep your attention past this point, I would have included a heck of a lot more Ke$ha, Miley and Britney, and added some Avril, Kings of Leon, Karmin, and Selena Gomez. Oh, and Girl Talk. Please, please, just go buy ALL the Girl Talk.
Happy fitnessing, Blitzers!
Thanks for this! I have had a similar couple of weeks with personal issues derailing what started out as a excellent beginning to 2014 in terms of my fitness. Music is often a goto for me as a motivator so I’m happy to have some new tunes to listen too. Have a great day.
Tracy
I agree – February was awful. I’m ready to hit the ground running and picked up some great new tunes so thanks!! Here’s to a great spring!
