Whether it is complacency in this society, an incessant need to be politically correct, or a slew of other things that affect us, we have lost a lot of passion in our lives. We’ve become frozen in fear and indecision to the point where people actively have chosen to remain static in their lives and watch life changing opportunities pass by. We have begun to choose comfort and temporary happiness over long term fulfillment.
We need to change this, we need to begin picking fights.
If you have ever watched a sports event like boxing the conversation is not simply around the fight itself, it is around the preparation that ultimately lead to the fight and how it ultimately led to either the victory or loss. Picking a fight is not simply about waking up one morning and deciding to flail your arms wildly at random opponents. It’s about how life has prepared you to pick a fight with something that you may have a unique experience with.
Ask yourself the following questions:
What am I willing to fight for?
Who am I willing to fight for?
Will I be willing to step out of my comfort zone when the time comes?
Am I prepared to stand out from the rest of the crowd to ensure that what is right is defended?
I’ve fought for many things in my life and I will never stop. I’ve fought for things like the ability to choose, for positive changes in others’ lives, for charities, for financial security, and for love. I believe that we have been given the responsibility to make a difference in society, but to do it in a way that is unique.
If family is what your priority is then fight for them. Work your face off so you can spend quality time with them, look out for your kids but don’t be overbearing, love your spouse. This is your unique fight.
If there are principles in life that you uphold then fight for those. Understand other positions and do not attack others blindly, but be passionate about your principles and ensure that you do not falter from them.
If it’s love, then fight for love. Fight as if your last dying wish was to stare someone straight in their eyes and truly see an eternal connection that will never disappear.
We may get knocked down some times but our passion and desire to do what is right allows us to pick ourselves back up and go on fighting. Picking a fight gives us purpose, allows us to contribute to the well being of others, and influence others too. We need to believe that our fight will make a huge difference to someone else even if we don’t see the immediate result.
So find something your passionate about this week and fight for it!
