As many of you know our team at Blitz Conditioning volunteered for the Home for Dinner program this last Saturday at the Ronald McDonald House and we absolutely loved it! We had 15 volunteers in our community and we cooked an amazing meal for the families there.
It dawned on me as I was looking at our awesome Blitz Conditioning community that we rarely talk about exercise and how it serves as a support system. As personal trainers, massage therapists, and acupuncturists, we have the privilege to interact with so many of you on a daily basis. My biggest reward is seeing a community member progressively see a change in their quality of life. Most of the time the change is not only because of the exercise or therapy but its the new found friendship and community that we have engaged in. Through exercise for instance we are able to accomplish a few things in the personal support arsenal:
- Cultivate an Interest: yes, I know, you may not actually be interested in exercise right now, but we see this change more often than not when people walk into the doors at Blitz Conditioning.
- Exercise is your Sanctuary: our lives are so busy now a days that it’s good to take time for ourselves and interact with others that are doing similarly. I sometimes think of workouts as mini vacations since they are breaks away from the ordinary day.
- Building Friendships: I love it when our community hangs out after a workout and I get to learn more about each person. We’ve had a lot of our longer term members become friends with each other and grow to support each other too. I’ve had the privilege of hearing how people’s lives have changed over the course of a few months and years too and I always consider all of our members at Blitz Conditioning as close friends!
When we look at the advantage of exercising in a community oriented environment we can begin to see the awesome benefit that fitness provides. Our team is really translating this community focus to helping other’s in Edmonton. We’re excited that we can rally people to help some awesome causes!
