Let’s SPRING Into Action!

max

Now that Spring hath sprung who's ready to kick it up a notch? I SURE AM! Throughout winter, I trudged through literal and metaphorical snow and had a heck of a time getting motivated. I was like a bear. I slept, gained weight to survive and I kind of looked like this: Well now this big sexy bear has woke up from hibernation and it's time to kick some butt. Looking for some motivation? Here are Four Ways to a Fitness-Filled Spring Set a seasonal goal - Nothing can keep you … [Read more...]

The Little Things

Brittany Kustra Blitz Conditioning Edmonton

When I started working out with Chris, he asked me what my goals are. I have some lofty, long-term ones (that I’m not quite ready to share -- yet), but there was one specific goal I had in mind: make it through a Blitz Edmonton HIIT class without going on my knees for pushups (that includes regular pushups, army pushups, tricep pushups…oh man, Blitz makes us do a ton of different kinds of pushups). Well last Thursday at Amy’s 6 AM HIIT class, I accomplished that – almost. I did modify one set … [Read more...]

Injuries: Respect them, heal them, and then Crush your Goals!

Focusing and being consistent with your rehabilitation is paramount for recovery.

Happy New Year! We've all been there: had an injury of some sort - whether it was an ankle sprain, shin splints, muscle strain, etc. It's never fun to be injured, and as a personal trainer my mission is to help people learn to move properly to minimize their risk of injury. That being said, when we are constantly pushing our bodies to new limits and taking on more intense workouts and movements, the potential for injury increases. As our bodies become capable of more and more (which is … [Read more...]

Goal Setting Workshop

IMG_9783

I am great at saying I’m going to lose X amount of weight by this time, or I’m going to do _______ next week/month/year and not doing it, I am also great at setting some goals and achieving them. So why is it that some goals/dreams/ideas you achieve and some you don’t? Over the last year or so I have fallen in love with Blitz and the community that has been built. We regularly talk about goals and I've been asked what my goals are but each time this has happened it has been a huge kick in the … [Read more...]

Britt’s Blitz Adventure Begins

knee

Hi Kittens! If you haven't seen me 'round these parts before, my name is Britt, and I'm very proud to be a new Blitz Ambassador! Pretty much everything you need to know about me is in my Twitter bio: "Writer, marketer, vegetarian, volunteer, lover of fashion and fitness." (Oh, and cats. Ask me about cats.) But although I've long been a lover of fitness, it hasn't been consistent. I was pretty in shape in high school, then gained fifteen pounds after dislocating my kneecap in university. I … [Read more...]

Trust and Respect the Process…Fitness is a Journey

LeighChmilarOverheadSquat

Fitness is all about trusting the process that you are going through (or the journey), and not rushing things. When we start to get impatient and want more results quicker, we end up falling on our faces (in more ways than 1)… Often we think if something is a good thing - then more of it must be better. That's true sometimes, and to some extents. However, when we rush a process that is properly thought out and planned for specific purposes (like training for something), then usually we either … [Read more...]

Bearing It All – 4 Months Until the Games Begin…

Leigh Chmilar Pull Up

This blog is a follow up to my last one about being hungry enough to work hard for what you want. I've had an idea for a challenge/goal for myself for a while now (maybe 4-6 months?), but wasn't ready to commit. Meaning, if I wasn't sharing that goal with others, then if it didn't happen I wouldn't feel bad about myself or like I've failed anyone. No more of those lame excuses. I'm ready to share it. Maybe that's because I've finally decided to take ownership of that goal and make a plan to … [Read more...]

Oh For Fit’s Sake: F*ck Terrification!

IMG_2194

Well, this blog post, this admission weakness and perpetual struggles has been a long time coming or should I say a long time hedging.  Those closest to me and those who have been consistently trying to help me with this struggle can attest.   There is a very simple reason for this, I AM SCARED OUT OF MY WITS.  In fact, I made up a new word to define this “I want to throw up, scream cry , fear poo, and ideally, spontaneously combust at any minute” feeling: TERRIFICATION. TERRIFICATION: a … [Read more...]

Join me for my last 30 days!

Viva Logo

The first month of my challenge went really well. I worked out consistently with Chris, and journalled my food intake almost every day in order to tweak things here and there with Kelsey. As a result, I gained weight and increased my muscle mass, and very happily increased my day-to-day energy. Then, two new project launches (joint ventures between Revive Wellness and Blitz Conditioning) had me working overtime and I was sick for one week. There were a couple weeks where I only made it to … [Read more...]

Making Fitness Permanent – The Follow Up

8 weeks progress Feb 2013

It’s public!  I’m committed!  Fitness as a lifestyle has taken over and permeates my very being (and let’s be honest, that just means my extra curricular calendar)! As promised, this blog’s intention is to address some of the unanswered question from a blog initially written, what are my next steps? So here it is, the answer to my question, and it is not all that complicated but it is a major undertaking.  I have made the commitment to train and compete in 3-4 triathlons (sprint, super … [Read more...]
