A Happy Nerdy 31st Birthday

So today is my 31st birthday.

Birthday Cake – It’s made from quinoa… I SWEAR!!!

Last year I set out to make my nerdy thirties the best decade of my life. That objective motivated me to wage my war against the obese overlord.

So much has happened the past 365 days and I can’t help but be thankful. Thank you Blitz community, Fit League Friends and Revive Wellness. You are literally saving my life!

I still have a long journey of health, wellness and movement but I wanted to take the time to recognize the little victories I’ve accomplished this past year:

  1. I conquered the Devil’s Staircase at Royal Glenora countless times
  2. I flipped tractor tires like a boss
  3. I revitalized my diet and learned to meal plan in order to fuel my sexy body
  4. Learned how to utilize my core muscles to do different exercises

To truly appreciate how far I’ve come, I also need to acknowledge that the last year hasn’t been without its challenges:

  • I effed up my ankle which derailed my progress for a while
  • I kept comparing myself to others and tried to become them instead of a better me
  • I sometimes fall into old habit and take the lazy train

See that! I count more victories than challenges. That’s a win in my books!

But that was sooo last year. Let’s talk about now.

First, I am giving myself the gift to do a push-up without relying on my knees for my birthday. *SQUEE* IT’S WHAT I’VE ALWAYS WANTED!!!

Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with using you knees but it’s time to challenge this upper body of mind and see what it can really do.

For the next few weeks I will work with Chris to develop my push-up form and then start working on doing more-and-more each week. By the end of May, I will be a push-up machine and that will be a huge victory for me.

So here’s to your nerdy 20s, 30s, 40s or 50s. May you be fit and frolic for years to come.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go open some presents, blow out some candles and work on my push-ups.
