90 Days?!?

Carlos Cuevas 1Has it really been 90 Days?

It’s hard to believe that a little over 90 Days ago I was sitting on my couch, playing video games, and eating pizza. I used to think that tomorrow was going to be the day I was actually going to start working out but when the next day came I kept saying: “nah, I’m too tired, I’ll start tomorrow”,”had the longest day at work”, “my favourite show is on TV right now”, or even “my index finger hurts”… 90 Days ago I knew that something had to be done; not tomorrow or the day after, but today. I decided to stop acknowledging all of the excuses and start putting myself ahead of anything. I was going to start caring for me.

Over the last 90 days, my life has changed in a way that I honestly didn’t think It was going to. Before I started working out at Blitz I didn’t really have a structured schedule. I would let the day control what I did, how I reacted, and I was never able to fit exercise in aside from a few dog walks. I have changed my lifestyle and created a routine. This routine is allowing me to take care of the most important work tool that I have: Me. I’m waking-up 5 minutes earlier every day to organize myself, and I’m running 30 minutes at my condo building gym three times a week.

Carlos Cuevas 2The energy boost I get from a 30 minute run is incredible; I actually feel like I have a more positive outlook on everything. I feel like my patience level is actually higher and working out is making me feel happier! I said in the past that the first step is the hardest one to take and it really was. Starting has made all the difference and I’m now certain that I’ll be able to complete the Calgary Half Marathon on June 1st!

My dad had a saying:

Don’t get preoccupied, get occupied.

I guess it was his way to tell me that I had to stop thinking about doing things and actually start doing something. It’s impressive what you can do when you actually put your mind to it; with proper guidance and supervision you can do things you never thought you could. Take me for example. I’ve completed the Blitz 90 day challenge and I can honestly say that I’m stronger and fitter than I was before!
